5G, AI, Connected Car and Snow
Time is flying by, Mobile World Congress (MWC18) was just under a week ago! The 151 team had a great time, check out what some of our partners had to say about this years must-attend event:
After attending this show for over a decade, it still is the best Mobile Show of the year! Our ability to meet so many friends, clients, prospects while seeing new products and apps from around the world, it is simply amazing! You have to plan to see stands that are most important to you or will never get through the entire show.
As the MC for the GSMA Showcase Stage for the second year in a row, running 15 sessions over 4 days and hearing from 22 companies from around the world plus seeing the 151 Advisors brand listed every day, multiple times in the Show Daily was worth the time and effort spent. You cannot help but learn so much about new apps and products from these selected company’s and think how our 151 team can help them growth their businesses. I sincerely hope that the GSMA team will allow us to participate again next year.
Highlights for me were learning about the eSIM and security products especially for IoT, seeing the NB-IoT focused eco-system expand rapidly and get into the 5G world. I sat through several keynotes and heard many of the executives on stage provide their unique views on where this industry is heading.
And the biggest issue of the week was the weather! Cols, rain, wind and SNOW! Brutal but thankfully for only short distances outside! Looking forward to MWC Shanghai and Americas! Check out my video interview with Light Reading and daily review vlogs from MWC18!
MWC was a whirlwind event that absolutely met every expectation possible. It was my 1st year attending, so when I first walked in and saw they had (8) halls and over 2400 exhibitors, I was thoroughly impressed with the magnitude of the event. There are exhibitors such as China Mobile that take up half of the 1st hall. Quite impressive to say the least. The city is built for the event, as public transportation is highly recommended and they give you a week-long pass to encourage using it.
5G and AI were the top conversations in my opinion. AI was absolutely everywhere, in terms of advertising, gaming and connected car. 5G will continue to be a topic of debate over the next 12-24 months, as the use cases will need to be vetted and spectrum needed in the US.
AI, Connected Car and Sim Management will be my top (3) takeaways, as these segments will continue to grow, and 151 will need to stay on the cutting edge to ensure success.
I look forward to next year to see the progress of 5G, Cat M/1 and the progression of NB-IoT!
